What's the Freddy Fixer Parade All About?
Born in 1962, the Freddy Fixer Parade is one of the oldest Black American parades in the northeast. Our parade is more than just a procession; it's a vibrant celebration of heritage, unity, and the ongoing beautification of our neighborhoods. Each year, we honor the vision of our founders—Dr. Frederick F. Smith, Edna Carnegie-Baker, and Dr. Charles Twyman—as we come together to transform our streets into a stage for our cultural narratives.
Historical Context & Community Initiatives
We take pride in preserving the rich history and cultural traditions that have shaped our community. The Elm City Freddy Fixer Parade is not just a parade, it's a movement that continues to honor the hard work and dedication of those before us. Our past milestones and contributions to New Haven’s cultural landscape reflect our commitment to strengthening community ties.

Why Do We Do What We Do?
We understand the importance of preserving our rich history while fostering a sense of collective pride and purpose. The Elm City Freddy Fixer Parade isn't just a parade; it's our pride and joy, showcasing the values and ethics that bind communities together. We aim to convey our history's story through consistent, constructive celebrations filled with love and unity across New Haven.
